Apple, Gallaudet University exploring how Apple Maps can better serve deaf travelers

lundi 12 juillet 2021, 13:57 , par Mac Minute
Apple and Gallaudet University are “breaking ground” by exploring how Apple Maps can better serve deaf travelers, according to Forbes. They’re teaming up for the Maps Guides Project.
Gallaudet University is the most prestigious school for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing college students in the United States. It’s working with Apple to allow Apple Maps users to open up guides with sites that have been labeled by local community partners. These guides curate specific topics.
Gallaudet has contributed to the Guides Project by labeling Deaf-friendly sites in DC so users can easily identify locations that use sign language or businesses that are owned and operated by Deaf individuals, according to Forbes.
This isn’t the first collaboration between Apple and Gallaudet University. Last year they began “a multifaceted collaboration to make learning more accessible and expand both academic and career opportunities for Gallaudet students.”
