Apple’s Mac laptop sales grow 21% year-over-year in quarter one

mercredi 4 août 2021, 19:31 , par Mac Minute
Global notebook shipments reached 65.6 million units in quarter two (Q2) 2021, up 15% compared to Q2 2020 and down -4% from 68.2 million in Q1 2021, reports Strategy Analytics. And it’s good news for the Mac.
Strategy Analytics says that commercial customers preparing to return to work and upgrading towards more mobility (desktop to notebook) were the main driving factors for commercial demand. As supply constraints are expected to get tighter in the second half of the year, some consumer spending may be forced to shift elsewhere for the holidays, adds the research group.
Apple’s Mac business did exceptionally well as it registered record sales for MacBook in the June quarter, growing over 5.5 million units, notes Strategy Analytics. That was 21% higher than last year. The popularity of M1 MacBooks drove strong sales in both consumers and large enterprise customers.
Apple’s Mac now has 8% of the global notebook market share. Ahead of Apple on the list (and their market share) are: Lenovo (24%), HP (23%), and Dell (16%). And note that iPads are tallied in this list.
