What Is Key Split?
Back with another three-minute breakdown is Sweetwater’s Jacob Dupre, here to talk about key split. Key split is a feature common to many digital keyboards and pianos on the market. It allows the player to define two or more zones where different sounds can be accessed at the same time. Common applications would include: pad (left hand) and lead (right hand) or upright bass (left hand) and organ (right hand). The note where key split occurs is known as the split point.
