Apple looks to adopt IPD to make devices with room for bigger batteries
lundi 2 août 2021, 13:46 , par Mac Minute
Apple is expected to increase the adoption of IPD (integrated passive devices) for new iPhones, iPads, and Mac laptops according to DigiTimes (a subscription is required to read the entire article.) The goal is to make slimmer processors so bigger batteries can be included in the devices.
DigiTimes doesn’t offer any estimates on when such smaller chips might arrive. However, the report says that Apple has approved TSMC’s 6th-generation process to mass-produce IPDs for new iPhones and iPads. The Sellers Research Group (that’s me) thinks the DigiTimes report makes perfect sense. Apple is always looking for ways to extend the battery life of its products. I anticipate we’ll see IPD adopted in iPhones, iPad, and Macs introduced in 2022. The post Apple looks to adopt IPD to make devices with room for bigger batteries appeared first on MacTech.com.
