Apple on Monday released a set of security updates for macOS Sonoma and macOS Ventura, two older operating systems. The updates come on the same day Apple officially released macOS Sequoia, the latest version of the Mac operating system. The update brings macOS Sonoma to version 14.7; Ventura is version 13.7. The release notes with details about the security patches for each OS is available online: About the security content of macOS Sonoma 14.7 (Apple) About the security content of macOS Ventura 13.7 (Apple) While Apple has moved on the Sequoia, the company will update older versions of macOS with security patches and bug fixes for a number of years. The company acknowledges that not all Mac installations can upgrade to the newest OS, so it provides updates to maintain security integrity. How to install the updates Before installing the update, we recommend backing up your Mac’s data. The installation requires an internet connection and the Mac will need to restart. Click on the Apple menu and select System Settings. In the left column, click on General. In the main section click on Software Update. The Mac will check for the update. If it’s available to install, you can click Update Now to proceed. If you do not see the update, check again at a later time.
