Apple TV+ earns 12 nominations for the 30th Annual Critics Choice Awards

Apple TV+ on Thursday was recognized with 12 nominations across eight programs for the 30th Annual Critics Choice Association Awards television categories, including Best Drama Series for Emmy Award-winning hit “Slow Horses,” Best Limited Series for acclaimed Alfonso Cuarón thriller “Disclaimer” and for World War II epic “Masters of the Air,” and Best Foreign Language Series for Peabody Award-winning “Pachinko” and Imagen Award-winning “Acapulco.” The winners will be revealed on Sunday, January 12, 2025 in Los Angeles.
Gripping Apple Original limited series “Disclaimer” and “Masters of the Air” land nominations in the Best Limited Series category. “Disclaimer” is recognized with four nominations total, including Best Actress in a Limited Series for star Cate Blanchett, as well as a Best Actor nod for Kevin Kline and a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Leila George. Additionally, Apple’s sweeping drama “Pachinko” and celebrated bilingual comedy series “Acapulco” each score a nomination for Best Foreign Language Series, and the widely acclaimed Emmy Award-winning drama “Slow Horses” is nominated for Best Drama Series.
Apple TV+ is also honored with nominations for several celebrated performances. Kristen Wiig earns a Best Actress in a Comedy Series nomination for “Palm Royale,” Anna Sawai scores a Best Supporting Actress nod for “Pachinko,” Fiona Shaw nabs a Best Supporting Actress in a Drama nomination for her role in season two of “Bad Sisters,” and Michael Urie lands a Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nod for “Shrinking.”
These nominations mark Apple’s most recent recognition from the Critics Choice Awards, following a record 16 nominations last year, a Best Foreign Language Series win for “Pachinko,” and Paul Walter Hauser’s Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series win for “Black Bird” in 2023. In 2022, “Ted Lasso” swept the top comedy categories for the second consecutive year with four awards in total, including back-to-back awards for Best Comedy Series, Best Actor in a Comedy Series and Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, as well as for Brett Goldstein in the Best Supporting Actor category. The broadly acclaimed Academy Award-winning Apple Original Film “CODA” was also honored in 2022, with star Troy Kotsur winning the award for Best Supporting Actor, becoming the first deaf actor to be honored with a Critics Choice Award.
To date, Apple Original films, documentaries and series have earned 530 wins and 2,390 award nominations and counting, including multi-Emmy Award-winning comedy “Ted Lasso” and historic Oscar Best Picture winner “CODA.”

“Slow Horses”
Academy Award winner Gary Oldman will return as Jackson Lamb in season six of “Slow Horses.”
This darkly funny espionage drama follows a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes. Led by their brilliant but irascible leader, the notorious Jackson Lamb (Academy Award winner Gary Oldman), they navigate the espionage world’s smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces.
“Disclaimer”
“Disclaimer” streams exclusively on Apple TV+.
“Disclaimer” is a gripping psychological thriller in seven chapters, starring Academy Award winners Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. Written and directed by five-time Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuarón, “Disclaimer” is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Renée Knight. Acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett) built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets.
As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys her life and her relationships with her husband Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen) and their son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee). The ensemble cast includes Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon, and features Indira Varma as the narrator.
“Masters of the Air”
The limited series “Masters of the Air,” from Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman premiered globally on Apple TV+ on Friday, January 26, 2024.
Based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, and scripted by John Orloff, “Masters of the Air” follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the “Bloody Hundredth”) as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air. Portraying the psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich is at the heart of “Masters of the Air.” Some were shot down and captured; some were wounded or killed. And some were lucky enough to make it home. Regardless of individual fate, a toll was exacted on them all.

“Acapulco”
Apple’s global hit comedy “Acapulco” has been renewed for a fourth season.
In season three of “Acapulco,” it’s time to reconcile past mistakes and exciting new beginnings. In the present story, older Maximo (Eugenio Derbez) finds himself returning to a Las Colinas he no longer recognizes. While in 1985, younger Maximo (Enrique Arrizon) continues his climb up the ladder of success while potentially jeopardizing all the relationships he’s worked so hard to build.
“Bad Sisters”
Season two of “Bad Sisters” premiered on November 13, 2024 on Apple TV+.
“Bad Sisters” season two returns to follow the lives of the Garvey sisters played by Sharon Horgan as Eva, Anne-Marie Duff as Grace, Eva Birthistle as Ursula, Sarah Greene as Bibi and Eve Hewson as Becka. Two years after the “accidental death” of Grace’s abusive husband, the close-knit Garvey sisters may have moved on, but when past truths resurface, the ladies are thrust back into the spotlight, suspicions are at an all-time high, lies are told, secrets revealed and the sisters are forced to work out who they can trust.
“Palm Royale”
Apple TV+’s global hit comedy, “Palm Royale,” has been renewed for a second season.
“Palm Royale” is a true underdog story that follows Maxine Simmons (Kristen Wiig) as she endeavors to break into Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, “Palm Royale” asks the same question that still baffles us today: “How much of yourself are you willing to sacrifice to get what someone else has?” Set during the powder keg year of 1969, “Palm Royale” is a testament to every outsider fighting for their chance to truly belong.
“Shrinking”
Apple TV+ has renewed the critically acclaimed, Emmy Award-nominated comedy “Shrinking” for a third season.
Starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford in one of this first television roles, “Shrinking” follows grieving therapist Jimmy (played by Segel) who starts to break the rules and tell his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge, tumultuous changes to people’s lives … including his own.
