Samsung’ Galaxy S25 and S25+ smartphones
Samsung’s Google Gemini-powered Galaxy S25 phones are “several years” ahead of iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Bloomberg News‘ Mark Gurman reports.
Mark Gurman for Bloomberg News:

This past week, Samsung ran laps around Apple in two areas: smartphone artificial intelligence and design. The new Galaxy S25 line includes a slew of AI features that feel more futuristic than what’s on the iPhone. It’s remarkable how much you can get done on these devices using just AI and your voice. (That includes giving the phone multiple commands at once and trusting that the tasks will be handled correctly.) AI is also integrated throughout — even some places you wouldn’t expect, such as tools for instantly transcribing a video or turning a clip into an animated GIF.
The kudos should largely go to Google because most of the new Samsung AI features are powered by that company’s Gemini platform. Still, Samsung gets credit for choosing a reliable AI system from a partner rather than taking the slower Apple approach and potentially missing out on the biggest technology revolution in 30 years. Having used Gemini extensively on these new Samsung devices, I can’t help but feel that Apple Intelligence is several years behind…
The most notable change on the design front is an upcoming phone: the S25 Edge. And here’s where Samsung is poised to beat Apple again. This new ultrathin model is due in the first half of the year, months ahead of Apple’s highly anticipated skinny phone — what I’ve been calling the iPhone 17 Air.

MacDailyNews Take: No dispute. Apple Intelligence has a lot of catching up to do.
Clearly, Apple is not as innovative as it was under Steve Jobs who even started the company’s work on Apple Silicon, Apple Watch, and Apple Vision Pro, but, thanks to Jobs, and Cook’s subsequent management of iterations of products and services conceived during Jobs’ tenure (including the retail store buildout which is responsible for a significant portion of Apple’s growth), the company now has more than enough money to make up for Cook’s glaring lack of vision. – MacDailyNews, April 23, 2024
