Apple TV+’s ‘Severance’ notches another huge week on Nielsen chart
Apple TV+ hit series “Severance” received top honors at the 75th Annual Writers Guild Awards, winning Best Drama and Best New Series.
“Severance” has officially claimed the title of Apple TV+’s most-watched series to date, surpassing the long-reigning fan favorite “Ted Lasso.”
The psychological thriller, which explores a dystopian workplace where employees’ memories are surgically divided between their personal and professional lives, has captivated audiences worldwide since its Season 2 premiere on January 17, 2025.
Apple confirmed that between January 17 and February 17, 2025, “Severance” amassed more unique viewers than any other series in the platform’s history, including “Ted Lasso’s” three-season run, with viewership metrics like 589 million minutes watched in the U.S. within days of the Season 2 debut underscoring its dominance. This milestone, fueled by a nearly three-year anticipation gap between seasons and heavy promotion highlights “Severance’s” cultural impact and Apple TV+’s growing ability to deliver must-watch original content.
Rick Porter for The Hollywood Reporter:

The series ranked fourth among original streaming shows for the week of Jan. 27-Feb. 2, according to Nielsen, with 557 million minutes of viewing. Though that’s down a little from the first two weeks of season two (which recorded 589 million and 622 million minutes), Severance has had the best three-week run for any Apple TV+ show since Ted Lasso‘s third season in 2023.
The Night Agent topped the charts for the second straight week, drawing 2.92 billion minutes of viewing on Netflix — a scant 6 percent drop from its debut a week earlier. Another Netflix spy drama, The Recruit, opened in second place overall with 1.19 billion minutes with its season two debut, up from 925 million for its series premiere in December 2022.
Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries.
