Apple has already factored in Apple Intelligence vaporware’s underwhelming ability to drive iPhone sales – Ming-Chi Kuo

![]() Lately, market sentiment has taken a noticeably cautious turn when it comes to iPhone shipments and Apple’s much-hyped “Apple Intelligence,” particularly with respect to Siri. Analysts and investors, once bullish on the promise of groundbreaking AI advancements, are now tempering expectations as shipment forecasts soften and skepticism grows around the tangible impact of Apple’s AI initiatives. Short Bus Siri, long criticized for lagging behind competitors like Google Assistant and Alexa, has been a focal point of disappointment, with the so-called Apple Intelligence enhancements dismissed by some, including MacDailyNews, as vaporware — big on promises and glossy videos, but quite noticeably light on delivery. This shift reflects broader concerns about whether Apple under its current leadership can maintain sales amid intensifying competition and a market hungry for concrete, transformative results rather than fraudulent false advertising and incremental, iterative, and, to put it plainly, boring upgrades. Ming-Chi Kuo via X: Since last year’s WWDC, I’ve consistently held a cautious view of how much Apple Intelligence would boost iPhone shipments. Take a recent case (see link below), just two months ago, I argued that the market was too bullish on 2025 iPhone shipments and reiterated that Apple Intelligence would contribute less than expected to shipment volumes. Lately, the market consensus has shifted to a more cautious stance on iPhone shipments and Apple Intelligence (Siri), which supports my earlier predictions. Moreover, it’s clear that when Apple shared conservative shipment forecasts with its key suppliers early this year, they had already factored in Apple Intelligence’s underwhelming performance.
