Foxconn boosts hiring in China for iPhone 17 series assembly

Foxconn, Apple’s primary manufacturing partner, is significantly ramping up hiring at its factories in China to prepare for the iPhone 17 series launch in September 2025. The Taiwanese electronics giant, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, has intensified recruitment efforts at its Zhengzhou and Shenzhen plants, signaling robust production plans for Apple’s next-generation smartphones.
In Zhengzhou, dubbed “iPhone City,” Foxconn’s largest iPhone production facility, the company is offering competitive wages and bonuses to attract workers. Recent recruitment notices indicate an hourly rate of 28 yuan (approximately US$3.90), up from 23.5 yuan in early July, with a three-month bonus of up to 8,000 yuan (US$1,113) for workers who stay through the peak season. This marks a significant increase from earlier bonuses of 4,500 yuan, reflecting Foxconn’s urgency to meet Apple’s ambitious production targets. In Shenzhen, the Integrated Digital Product Business Group is offering 26 yuan per hour for contract workers until November 30, 2025, to bolster smartphone assembly lines.
The hiring surge aligns with Apple’s goal to produce the iPhone 17 series. Foxconn’s Zhengzhou plant, responsible for nearly 80% of global iPhone assembly, is critical to meeting Apple’s projected shipment of millions of units. Despite relocating significant iPhone assembly to India and Vietnam, Foxconn remains committed to its Chinese operations, with plans to deepen investments in Zhengzhou.
