Apple’s busy fall pipeline reportedly includes several long-overdue updates

Alongside news of Apple’s iPhone plans through 2028, which include ultra-thin, folding, and curved models, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has also outlined updates to several other Apple devices this fall, including one that hasn’t been updated since its October 2020 debut.

In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman reports that Apple has “a lot in the fall pipeline,” much of which will be “only incremental upgrades.” It starts with the iPhone 17, but there will be many more updates on the way:

Apple Watch Series 11, Ultra 3, and SE 3

Apple Vision Pro

iPad Pro

AirPods Pro 3

HomePod mini

Apple TV 4K

Of note, this would be the first update to the HomePod mini (aside from making new colors available), which originally arrived in October 2020 alongside the iPhone 12. We don’t know what, if anything, will be new with the speaker other than a faster chip, though Apple will likely keep the same design. The Apple TV, iPad Pro, and Vision Pro are likely to be little more than chip refreshes as well.

The Apple Watch updates are likely to be slightly more interesting, especially the SE 3, which hasn’t been updated in three years and hasn’t gotten a redesign since its debut five years ago. Very early reports claimed the new model could be made of plastic and geared more toward kids, though recent rumors about the Apple Watch have been less certain of the change.

Finally, Apple plans on releasing the 3rd generation of AirPods Pro, which were last updated in 2022. Gurman reports that the new model will have heart-rate monitoring like the PowerBeats Pro 2. They could also bring a redesign with shorter stems, as well as live translation.

It’s not clear whether Apple will hold a second event to release the products that don’t arrive at the iPhone event or simply launch them via press release, as it did with this year’s iPad Air and MacBook Air releases.
