The orange iPhone 17 Pro Max is already out of stock

Preorders for the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and Air went live at 8 am ET this morning (actually closer to 8:30 if you were using Apple’s website), and if you’re just waking up looking to get an iPhone 17 Pro Max in the new Cosmic Orange color, you’re going to have a long wait.

According to Apple’s delivery estimates, orders placed now for the iPhone 17 Pro in orange aren’t shipping until mid-October, nearly a month after the September 19 release date. All capacities were reflecting an October 6-13 delivery window about an hour after preorders went live.

Other colors were also beginning to sell out. The deep blue Pro Max was also showing delivery times of September 24-29, about a week after release, while the silver model reflected the same October range as the orange phones.

Other models we checked seemed to have plenty of stock. All color and capacity options for the iPhone 17 and iPhone Air were shipping by September 19 as of this writing, as well as the smaller iPhone 17 Pro. That could mean demand is higher for the Pro Max phone or just that Apple has greater stock for the other models.

The iPhone 17, 17 Pro, and Air will arrive in stores next Friday, September 19. If you want an iPhone 17 Pro Max on launch day and haven’t preordered, it may be your best bet for getting one.
