iOS 26: How developers are using Apple’s local AI models
vendredi 26 septembre 2025, 18:01 , par Mac Daily News
![]() iOS 26 is now available to all users, with developers updating apps to leverage Apple’s compact local AI models. Compared to larger models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Meta, Apple’s models focus on enhancing app functionality with quality-of-life improvements rather than transforming core workflows. Ivan Mehta for TechCrunch: Earlier this year, Apple introduced its Foundation Models framework during WWDC 2025, which allows developers to use the company’s local AI models to power features in their applications. The company touted that with this framework, developers gain access to AI models without worrying about any inference cost. Plus, these local models have capabilities such as guided generation and tool calling built in. MacDailyNews Take: Mehta has compiled a healthy list of apps that are using Apple’s AI framework, with descriptions, screenshots, and links. Check them all out here.
