It wasn’t so long ago that 15W MagSafe was the fastest any magnetic wireless charger could output power to an iPhone? Since the launch of the latest Q1 2.2 technology, charger manufacturers have been racing to bring out wireless gadgets at the new top 25W speed.

While Apple was first to 25W, that speed was limited to just its one-trick pony MagSafe Charger, a solid but solitary pad on the end of a variable length cable.

Since then, multi-device chargers have appeared matching the 25W Apple charger at its claimed 50% iPhone charge in “around 30 minutes”.

Simon Jary

Q1 2.2 (aka Qi2 25W) is a new tech that takes 15W Qi2 and revs up the power output to a possible 25W for the iPhone 16 and 17 models—excluding the 16e (not magnetic for some reason) and iPhone Air (limited to 20W probably for thermal management reasons).

In an ideal temperature-controlled environment manned by people in white coats and with perfectly sealed doors and windows, 25W charging should mean you can charge one of the more recent iPhones from 0% to 50% in 25 minutes. In a less-clinical home or office our tests demonstrate that Qi 2.2 charging should reach that point in just over 30 minutes. It’s not a big difference but environment, charger and age of the device all have a say in how long charging takes.

(Charging devices gets slower as the battery fills up, which is why we take the 50% point as our timing benchmark.)

Dinky design

Crafted from anodized aluminum alloy the X40 Turbo feels robust despite its diminutive size (folded) and weight.

Kuxiu has a long line of products that squeeze charging points for up to three Apple devices into a small area, but this is the slimmest 3-in-1.

The X40 Turbo measures just 2.5 x 2.5 x 0.7 inches (6.4 x 6.4 x 1.8cm) when folded up and weighs 5.23oz (148g). Remarkably, it is 25% slimmer than the previous X40 model. It is certainly the thinnest of its foldable kind that we’ve seen and tested.

Simon Jary

It’s an incredibly small package when not in use and is easily pocketable. Remember though that you need to pack a USB-C wall charger and cable with you. Thoughtfully, Kuxiu has included both in a neat gray travel case that ships with the X40 Turbo.

The 3-in-1 charger can charge the magnetically attached iPhone at 25W, and the AirPods and Apple Watch at 5W each, meaning the Watch is fast-charged too.

Simon Jary

It is available in Black and Gray as you would expect, but also (depending on where you purchase from) a curious Wood Grain effect and a stunning orange for interested iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max owners.

Wireless travel rivals

The wireless travel charger market is one of the most diverse in a field of often me-too products.

Kuxiu’s “X” series has been a popular one, and the X40 Turbo takes the term ‘compact’ to an extreme. The whole thing folds on top of itself to create an aluminum stack. It pulls out to form a short stand with the Apple Watch charger flipping out, and the AirPods Qi pad underneath the iPhone.

Simon Jary

Alternatives include the $139 25W Ugreen MagFlow 3-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charger, which is twice as long and a little deeper with the Apple Watch charging module pulled out from the base next to the AirPods pad.

The $89 Anker MagGo 3-in-1 Folding Wireless Charging Station remains at 15W Qi2 for now and is a more organic shell-like shape that unfolds to create a longer flat strip.

All have their benefits: the Ugreen creates a more stable stand, and the Anker is cute and pocketable. The Kuxiu 3-in-1 is somewhere in between: cute in size if not in its metal appearance and creating a reasonably tall stand considering its folded-down dimensions.

The Kuxiu X40 Turbo matches Apple’s Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models.Kuxiu

Price

The Kuxiu X40 Turbo 25W Wireless Charging Station is priced at $79.99 / £79.99 / €79,99 direct or from Amazon and Amazon UK.

Should you buy the Kuxiu X40 Turbo 25W Wireless Charging Station?

The Kuxiu X40 Turbo sounds like a boy racer’s dream ride, but is in fact a super-fast 25W charger that is both 3-in-1 multi-functional and compactly ultra-portable.
