“Roger Stone’s indictment makes clear there was a deliberate, coordinated effort by top Trump campaign officials to subvert the will of the American people during the 2016 Election,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) tweeted tonight, with the hashtag #FollowTheFacts.
Pelosi, who is third in line to the presidency, is tweeting this out one hour after Trump's shutdown over the wall ended in defeat to the Dems. “.@realDonaldTrump’s continued efforts to undermine Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation raises the questions:” • What does Putin have on @realDonaldTrump, politically, personally or financially? • Why has the Trump Administration continued to discuss pulling the U.S. out of NATO, which would be a massive victory for Putin? = • The Special Counsel investigation is working, and the House will ensure that it can continue, free from interference from the White House. The Special Counsel investigation is working, and the House will ensure that it can continue, free from interference from the White House. Pelosi Statement on Special Counsel Indictment and Arrest of Trump Campaign Advisor Roger Stone JANUARY 26, 2019 Washington, D.C. – Speaker Nancy Pelosi issued this statement after Special Counsel Mueller released a seven-count indictment of top Trump campaign advisor Roger Stone, for lying to Congress, witness tampering, and obstruction: “The indictment of Roger Stone makes clear that there was a deliberate, coordinated attempt by top Trump campaign officials to influence the 2016 election and subvert the will of the American people. It is staggering that the President has chosen to surround himself with people who violated the integrity of our democracy and lied to the FBI and Congress about it. “In the face of 37 indictments, the President’s continued actions to undermine the Special Counsel investigation raise the questions: what does Putin have on the President, politically, personally or financially? Why has the Trump Administration continued to discuss pulling the U.S. out of NATO, which would be a massive victory for Putin? “Lying to Congress and witness tampering constitute grave crimes. All who commit these illegal acts should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. We cannot allow any effort to intimidate witnesses or prevent them from appearing before Congress. “The Special Counsel investigation is working, and the House will continue to exercise our constitutional oversight responsibility and ensure that the Special Counsel investigation can continue free from interference from the White House.” PREVIOUSLY: • Roger Stone released on bond • Roger Stone Yakety Sax • Trump crony Roger Stone arrested Just as she wore down the rebels gunning for her this winter, @SpeakerPelosi waited Trump out as the public pressure was building. She also kept Dems publicly* unified — even as many were privately freaking out & almost reaching a breaking point. https://t.co/51ZEXm9B00 — Rachael Bade (@rachaelmbade) January 26, 2019 Turns out there’s still some jugular left to go for. https://t.co/oFkqaXUbHG — Dan Zak (@MrDanZak) January 26, 2019 If you read this thread with the fact she's third in the line of succession firmly in mind it's mind-blowing. https://t.co/6aIu0pa6hP — STEVE HUFF (@SteveHuff) January 26, 2019 Not so long ago, Trump trolled Pelosi by saying he’d help secure enough votes to make her Speaker. Today, the president accepted basic deal that was on the table in December and he turned down, saying he’d shut the government down. https://t.co/y1Geor61k8 — Maggie Haberman (@maggieNYT) January 26, 2019 I know everyone is Pelosi ain’t playing, but Pelosi ain’t playing. — Schooley (@Rschooley) January 26, 2019
