How to stop Microsoft Word from turning URLs into hyperlinks

mardi 12 décembre 2023, 17:32 , par PC World
If you type a web address into Microsoft Word, you’ll quickly realize that something is a bit off. Although you didn’t choose it yourself, the text becomes blue and underlined. If you click the hyperlink, it automatically opens in your browser. For those who mostly print documents on paper, this is an annoying feature, but fortunately it can be switched off.

If a text has been turned into a hyperlink, you can right click and select Remove hyperlink. If you do this, the blue color and underlining will also disappear.

It’s also possible to completely remove the feature that automatically turns URLs into hyperlinks when you type them in:

Press File, Options, Language control. (If you can’t find Options, you may first need to press More).

Press the Options for autocorrect and select the tab Auto format on enrollment. Uncheck the feature Internet addresses and network addresses with hyperlinks.

Switch to the tab Autoformat tab and do the same there.
