Oracle Code Assist moves to beta

mercredi 11 septembre 2024, 00:57 , par InfoWorld
Oracle Code Assist, the company’s AI-powered programming assistant, is available in a beta trial. The beta version is optimized for Java and adds capabilities intended to boost development of applications for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle said.

Oracle also announced new features for OCI Kubernetes Engine aimed at deploying and managing AI workloads and cloud-native applications on Kubernetes at scale.

Developers can access Oracle Code Assist through the Oracle Beta Program, Oracle said on September 10. The tool originally was unveiled in May.

The beta version of Oracle Code Assist is optimized for Java, but can work with most modern programming languages, Oracle said. The Java optimizations help with building new Java applications and update legacy Java applications to enhance application performance and security, Oracle said. Optimization for NetSuite SuiteScript, intended to help with building NetSuite extensions and customizations using NetSuite’s native scripting language, is planned for delivery within the next year.

Oracle Code Assist is deployable as a plugin for JetBrains’ IntelliJ Idea IDE or Microsoft’s Visual Studio Code editor. Developers using the tool get suggestions to help build applications in languages including Java, Python, JavaScript, Rust, Ruby, Go, PL/SQL, C#, and C.

Oracle also announced new OCI Kubernetes Engine (OKE) features aimed at simplifying the deployment and management of AI workloads and cloud-native applications on OCI. These include support for Ubuntu Linux images, container security enhancements, logging analytics for OKE workloads, and cluster node health checks. The container security enhancements help developers identify security problems and develop quicker remediations by extending monitoring to find problems down to the container level, while the new health checks help cluster operators ensure worker nodes are healthy and updated, Oracle said.
