Judge: Google can profit from gift card scams without refunding victims

A federal judge ruled Monday that Google has no obligation to refund victims of scammers who trick them into buying Google Play gift cards. It is entitled to keep the fees and profit from the scams, too. Win-Win!

The lawsuit was filed by Judy May, who lost $1,000 in 2021 when scammers tricked her into buying Google Play gift cards by claiming she was eligible for a government grant.
