The Eclipse Foundation has released GlassFish 7.0.21, an update of the enterprise Java application server that focuses on fixing a few tenacious bugs. The release also brings improved connection pool lookup messages and improved error messages on deploying apps larger than the upload size limit in Admin Console.
Downloadable from glassfish.org, GlassFish 7.0.21 was introduced January 3. GlassFish implements the Jakarta EE 10 enterprise Java specification. The Eclipse GlassFish release notes describe the release as ”all about hunting down a few nasty bugs reported by GlassFish users,” including restarts hanging on fast machines, random 403 responses for authenticated sessions, and Faces UI components failing to initialize on GlassFish embedded. “We’re proud to announce that after a lot of research and a lot of work, we were able to squash them all,” Eclipse said. In addition to improving the connection pool lookup messages, GlassFish 7.0.21 also improves error messages on deploying apps over the upload size limit in Admin Console, according to release notes. And GlassFish now suppresses internal processing output when executing asadmin create-local-instance. Containing Jakarta 10 APIs, GlassFish 7.0.21 runs on Java versions from JDK 11 to JDK 23. MicroProfile support needs JDK 17 or higher. GlassFish 7.0.21 also disables TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 by default and includes maintenance enhancements such as a redesign of the kernel events dispatching facility that improves kernel events dispatching performance.
