Firefox extends Windows 7 support again, for at least another six months
mercredi 19 février 2025, 16:17 , par PC World
Last September, Mozilla announced that it would extend support for Firefox on older Windows operating systems until March of this year. Now, the company has updated its release calendar, which now says that Firefox Old ESR (Extended Support Release) will continue for another six months — at least up to August 19, 2025.
Firefox support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 will, according to the updated release calendar, be officially discontinued in September 2025. However, Mozilla also writes that they’ll re-evaluate the decision in August and announce if that end-of-support date changes. Keep in mind that extended support only applies to Firefox 115 (Old ESR) and Firefox 128 (ESR), with both branches set to be deprecated come September 16, 2025. At that point, you’ll have to move to a newer version of Windows and switch to Firefox 140 ESR. Further reading: Firefox adds AI to browser, surprising no one
