Conspiracy Theorists Don't Realize They're On the Fringe

![]() The study examined beliefs about claims such as the Apollo Moon landings being faked and Princess Diana's death not being an accident. In one example, 8% of participants believed the Sandy Hook shooting was a false flag operation, but that group estimated 61% of people agreed with them. 'It might be one of the biggest false consensus effects that's been observed,' said co-author Gordon Pennycook, a psychologist at Cornell University.
