Google and Replit Partner to Bring ‘Vibe Coding’ to Corporate America
vendredi 5 décembre 2025, 17:07 , par eWeek
The easy-going world of AI-assisted “vibe coding,” where non-programmers can build apps just by describing what they want, is finally moving out of the solo developer’s garage and into the corporate boardroom.
Google Cloud announced a major multi-year expansion of its partnership with Replit, a fast-growing AI coding startup valued at $3 billion, on Thursday. The new deal is Google’s clearest move yet to capture the booming market for AI-powered software creation, challenging rivals like Anthropic and Cursor by taking the ‘vibe-coding’ experience straight to enterprise customers. “Vibe coding” has become a phenomenon this year, as large language models (LLMs) became sophisticated enough to generate functional code from everyday conversation. While this was once primarily a tool for individual developers, the expanded partnership aims to put this power into the hands of entire business teams. Replit’s unique position as an easy-to-use platform for non-developers is seen as a key factor in democratizing software creation. The startup has been on a rocket ship trajectory, seeing annual revenue explode from $2.8 million to $150 million in less than a year. What’s changing for users For people using Replit, the deal means deeper access to Google’s latest AI tech. This includes the powerful Gemini 3 model for complex tasks and Imagen 4, which can generate images and design assets from a text description. Behind the scenes, Replit will continue to run on Google’s infrastructure, using services like Cloud Run and BigQuery to handle the growing demand. This technical deep tie makes Google central to Replit’s future. “Our growing partnership will deliver more capabilities to Replit’s users through deeper integrations with our AI and cloud services,” Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said in the announcement, “and will accelerate the adoption of vibe coding in the enterprise by bringing Replit’s easy-to-use AI tools, powered by Google Cloud AI, to more organizations.” The companies will jointly target business customers through Google Cloud Marketplace and Google Cloud’s extensive co-sell programs to accelerate enterprise adoption. According to Replit CEO Amjad Masad, the company’s mission is to enable “the next billion software creators.” By teaming up with Google Cloud, they’re betting that a huge number of those creators will be sitting in corporate offices, not just in Silicon Valley startups. Masad noted that Replit has already seen significant traction among businesses, especially within the Fortune 1000. He believes the “expanded partnership with Google” will allow them to “scale faster and more deeply” as they “integrate Google’s offerings.” For more on Google’s latest AI-driven productivity upgrades, check out our coverage of the new Google Workspace Studio launch.
