Stanton Moore’s Drumming Brings Bonham Energy to New Orleans Jazz
Widely regarded as the founding member of New Orleans–born funk outfit Galactic, Stanton Moore’s multidimensional drumming has earned him well-deserved acclaim across his genre-transcending collaborations and solo works, as well as an illustrious and inspiring career as a music educator. His hallmark percussive panache has been deployed alongside the likes of Tom Morello, Boots Riley, Joe Jackson, Trombone Shorty, Eric Krasno, and more, in addition to his work with Midnite Disturbers, Garage A Trois, and the Stanton Moore Trio. Sweetwater had the honor of hosting Stanton Moore for DrumFest 2024, and he played through two of his tracks, “Maple Plank” and “Nobody’s Baby,” the latter of which was written and recorded with Eric Krasno of funk acts Soulive and Lettuce.
