The online musical marketplace Reverb has many thousands of listings, and every so often, something very special pops up. This week they found a remarkable bass that they featured as their find of the week: a 1954 Gibson EB-1.
Michael Manring recently shared this video from a performance he did with Tony Kaltenberg in September 2022. Here’s the Acoustic Groove Experience Duo performing Kaltenberg’s tune, “Thread of Joy,” which includes a beautiful bass solo by Manring.
Adam Blackstone spends a lot of his time creating with and working for other artists. Last year he carved out enough time for himself to deliver his debut solo album, “The Legacy,” and now he’ll be on the road performing some of its music.

I’m always mesmerized by videos of instruments being made, especially basses. Crimson Guitars put together a five-part series on “How to Build a P-Style Bass Guitar,” and it’s incredible to watch even a simple build come together.
No Treble reader Maarten Plukker sent us this video of Chopy Fatah and the band performing Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams.” He said, “Although a simple song, it showcases how locked John McVie and Mick Fleetwood were and always have been.”
After much anticipation, The Winery Dogs have released their third album, “III.” While they have toured over the last few years, it breaks a seven-year gap in studio records for the trio of Ritchie Kotzen, Mike Portnoy, and Billy Sheehan.

LeCompte Electric Basses has introduced two new bass models for 2023 with the P-31 and the J-31. Named after their shorter 31.18-inch scale lengths, the basses were dreamed up with the collision of two classic instruments.
I’ve been wearing out Snarky Puppy’s “Empire Central,” which is often on the turntable. The band just dropped another video from the session, with the laid back tune, “Cliroy,” which was written by trumpeter Jay Jennings.
Les Claypool shared some exciting news with the return of one of his projects. After 20 years, Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade is back and will be touring the United States this spring and summer.
