Best Sounding Digital 2 Track Master Recorder?

I recently started mixing on a api the box2 and its helped me to realize that the tascam da3000 is not the totally accurate 1:1 representation of the mixdown that I thought it was.

I have burl converters. I printed a mix back into the box from the console but it also doesn't sound like the mix I had on the api. The mix had a beautiful stereo image that doesn't transfer to the burl or the tascam without losing something.

Budget is unlimited for the right thing. I just want the most accurate representation of my Mix for a two track.

what converters or 2 track digital recorders will really do that for me?
