Rupert Neve Designs 5060 Centerpiece - Customer Service Experience
lundi 28 octobre 2024, 20:55 , par Gearslutz
I have an issue with my almost new Rupert Neve Design 5060, 4 of the 5 primary faders, Stereo Input 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 are unusably scratchy and I have stepped through the Service recommended process of 1) applying DeoxIT externally, which did not make a difference and 2) today, completely disassembling the 5060, removing and opening the faders, applying DeoxIT and reassembling, then testing, which again, did not make a difference.
Have others experienced this issue, was it resolved and how was it resolved? Rupert Neve Design Service has recommended against sending the mixer to them as "bad things happen in transit". That is fine by me as I bought the 5060 to be the central mixer and routing for my studio and I am in the middle of a major project. Sending it back for their evaluation would certainly put me in a short-term bind. Upon their instruction, having disassembled and reassembled the mixer and faders, I am now confident that replacing the faders would be much the same level of effort as I undertook today and have just requested new faders. As the 5060 was a major purchase for a small studio, from a premium audio manufacturer, I am disappointed with the fader issue but, in the short-term can work around the issue in the studio while tracking, mixing and mastering. It is now the end of October '24, I have a live event mid-December and built a plan to use the 5060 for this and future live events. I can't use a mixer with scratchy faders and have created this thread to document my issue, to find out if others have found a solution to the 5060 fader issue, and with the expectation that some who are considering a 5060 purchase or are current owners, may also have interest in the solution/outcome.
