Do electric guitars have a future ?

Do electric guitars have a future ?
Meaning that it's possible to consider existing electric guitars as un-perfectible, best in a class, embodying decades of progressive perfecting and refinement in functionality and ergonomics. So that the future of electric guitars might be just like its present: timeless.

And so I would submit that despite the wow-factor of ever expanding digital tech, space age composite materials, esoteric hardware/micros, novel ergonomics scorning shapes, etc. the overall design and structure of electric guitars (whether from Gibson, Fender, Rickenbacker, PRS, etc.) is largely future proof.

In that sense electric guitars are this rare specie of objects basically immune to aesthetic, social and technologic evolution.
Which, in this present culture is a bit akin to an obscene, blasphemous, and/or offensive ("fascistic"?) event.:)

I reflected upon all this, while looking at some "new" guitar designs such as these and their (probable) inclusion in the MOMA Design Store catalogue.
