MIAD AUDIO LCPQ4040 MK2 | 4-Band All-Discrete Inductor EQ
The MIAD AUDIO LCPQ 4040 MK2 is a 4-Band All-Discrete Inductor EQ

November 2, 2024 – MIAD AUDIO. For those who dare to push boundaries, who demand excellence in every note, every beat, and every echo, MIAD Audio is here to introduce the LCPQ4040 MK2, the pinnacle of audio evolution that’s setting the standard for professional audio processors everywhere. Known as "The God of Studio Gear" among audio connoisseurs and innovators alike, this legendary unit has been reborn to supercharge your sonic experience. This is more than a piece of equipment – it’s an audio phenomenon, meticulously designed to turn sound into pure emotion.

Hello everyone, Michalis from MIAD AUDIO here. Sorry but I couldn't help it!:)

On a more serious note, I’d like to introduce you the LCPQ 4040 MK2, an upgraded version of the LCPQ 4040 Inductor EQ.

What’s new

Some of the main upgrades include:

• Custom-made Detent Potentiometers

The Level control now features 31 distinct detents, offering 15 steps for the gain (+) range and 15 steps for the attenuation (-) range, allowing for precise control and easy recallability.

• Selectable Level Range

Users have the option to choose between ±6dB or ±12dB via jumpers.

• Per-Band Level Adjustment

Each band can be set individually, allowing combinations like setting BAND 1&4 to ±6dB and BAND 2&3 to ±12dB.

• Dual function of “Hi-Q” Button

The “Hi-Q” button can also be used to switch between ±6dB and ±12dB. However, this is optional and you can choose to maintain the same level range for both Low-Q and High-Q if preferred.

• New Enclosure

The LCPQ 4040 MK2 comes with a newly designed enclosure and front panel, enhancing durability and recallability.

Like the original LCPQ 4040, the MK2 model is built with high-quality components, including GRAYHILL® rotary stepped switches for frequency selection, WIMA® low-tolerance polypropylene film capacitors in the RLC path, hand-wired custom-made multi-tapped inductors, PANASONIC® electrolytic capacitors, and NEUTRIK® connectors for both audio and power connections.

Features

• Fully discrete (transistor) circuit

• CARNHILL® input and output transformers

• Custom made tapped inductors

• Selectable ±6dB or ±12dB per band

• 34 frequency points

• Shelving/ Bell on Band1 and Band4

• HiQ/ LowQ on Band2 and Band3

• Individual bypass on each band

• True bypass relay system

• Matched components for stereo configuration

• Hand-built and hand-wired

• 3-year labour and parts warranty

Besides using low-tolerance components, I also invest a lot of time in further hand-matching the units for stereo configuration—a time consuming process, but absolutely worth the effort!

As you can see below, every section is on a different PCB and this really helps with serviceability and maintenance, which is something I pay a lot of attention to!

Let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to answer in this thread.
