Low-Profile Ceiling Mount for Height Speakers - Help
mardi 5 novembre 2024, 17:22 , par Gearslutz
TL;DR: Can someone point me to a universal yoke-style ceiling mount for a studio monitor? Or, maybe I need to rethink some other things.
Long version: I'm building out a small Atmos room for game dev, currently trying to map out the installation of the height speakers and am running into some issues regarding how specifically to mount them (and possibly also which ones to buy). The main hurdle is that this is in a basement with some challenging geometry including low-ish ceilings (94.5") and a required 80.5" of clearance below the speaker for tall people and swinging doors. So the whole speaker+mount assembly has to have a profile of <= 14". I've been working on Adams for years and had been intending on going to go with some A4's for the ceiling. Those boxes are about 10.5"x6.25"x8.5", so they'd have to be mounted horizontally in order to maintain the proper clearance once the hardware was added. Problem is, they only have rigging points on the bottom, and none of the mount options I can find have the range of motion needed to mount them horizontally and aim them properly. It occurred to me that the best option could be a universal/adjustable yoke mount that supported the speaker from underneath while still allowing it to swivel. But I can't seem to find any yoke mounts that aren't specific to a certain speaker model and I don't know where else to look. Are there any dealers/brands I should be looking at that I may have missed? ETA: If I can source 4 of them, a mount for a small (e.g. ~13") CRT television might work, too. The fallback option would be to scrap the Adam brand altogether and switch to something like Genelec that offers smaller cabinets with more flexible mounting options, which I'm not opposed to, but I haven't worked on them in years, so that presents its own challenges.
