Soundtoys PhaseMistress, I’m Not Impressed

I installed PhaseMistress on a separate machine (since I’m against iLok but that’s another story) to see what all the hype was all about, and I was absolutely NOT impressed one bit. It was an aliasingfest of colossal proportions. Maybe I’m not a fan of phaser effect in general without knowing it. Maybe PhaseMistress needs to be used much more subtly I don’t know. But I was not impressed.

I think Soundtoys’ strength is especially in their four delay plug-ins and two reverb plug-ins.

I also think we’re dealing with incredibly old code here, maybe that’s the reason, or maybe I should’ve used it more subtly. Orrr, maybe it’s not Soundtoys, it’s just me and I’m not a fan of phaser effect without knowing it.

I’d rather use Kilohearts’ 33 FREE effects + their Snap Heap and all of a sudden I have access to all the crazy effects I would ever need.

So what do you think about PhaseMistress, and other Soundtoys effects in general? Am I wrong? If so, why?
