The Body - production techniques?!

The past few days I've had the new album "The Crying Out of Things Been" by Providence-based duo "The Body" on repeat! What a record - blown away by the intensity, atmosphere and heaviness of this thing.

It's super loud of course. Lot's of distortion on their percussion but also on pads and pretty much everything. Still they achieve amazing separation of the sounds and instruments.

Anybody a hint how they achieve this and in general about their production techniques and gear used?
