New Album Release - Thanks to Everyone at Gearspace!
lundi 11 novembre 2024, 16:34 , par Gearslutz
Hey everyone,
This is mostly a "thank you" message to everyone who participates in this community. I discovered my daughter was a pretty great songwriter when she started writing lyrics and melodies at about 10 years old. By the time she was 12 she had plenty of good songs to do an LP (more than double what we needed). She said "my goal is to release an album before high school". Tall order. Back in the 90s I ran a local recording studio but I had been out of the game for about 20 years. EVERYTHING was different in the recording world, but I wanted to try to create the album and make a dream of hers happen. We started to demo (for about a year or more) and I was learning how bad I sucked, daily.:) Not only was I recording everything, but I was playing everything too (and I'm really just a drummer). On many MANY occasions I was on the verge of quitting. But all of you in these forums gave me advice and encouraged our demos. You kept me going. (In particular @ psycho_monkey and @ MAXX VADA really kept me moving ahead.) THANK YOU! Now, here we are, a year after I started tracking, and the album is being released. You can listen to it and/or support it here. I can't tell you how proud I am of my daughter's songs (Yes, I'm biased, but the lyrics and melodies she wrote hit me like very few other things I listen to). Recording and mixing can always improve (it's nowhere near perfect) but I got to the point I was OK calling the project "done" and now I'm reflecting on how thankful I am for the people that helped move it forward. You made a difference for not only me (who cares, really) but for a young artist. She's had LOTS of strangers purchase her album since the release and she's gotten the confidence to keep going. You're the best!
