Home Studio - Non-commercial

Well, I posted this below in someone's thread, I thought it would be interesting to open a thread of my own, so here it goes.

Well, I hope someone likes me here again reviving this thread, I particularly like reviving it. A little bit of my story so that by the end of the conversation with you I can understand a little bit of the reason for all this.

Today's topic is my almost purchase today, December 5, 2024, of a Delta 1010LT PCI board. I say this because I'm about to make the payment to the seller at any moment, so I came here to read information, tips and posts about this board that is already well known in the industry.

I'm 42 years old, I really like music, I was a musician in my teens, I played in church, I was a keyboard player for many years. And like most keyboard players, I'm an electronics guy, I like technology and I've always tried to use audio equipment, modules, etc., during my live performances with my band at church events. We're talking about the period between 1997 and 2002. I never had much money, I come from a humble family, but I always managed to get some second-hand audio equipment, which was on the edge of the top-of-the-line equipment at the time, but I had something that was usable. At that time, I had a PC with Windows XP, a K6-2 500MHz processor with about 32MB of memory, and I managed to trade an old Roland D10 that was already well-used and poorly maintained by its previous owners for a Midiman 2044 card. This card allowed me to learn how to use Nuendo and record some of the fun with my band at the time. Time passed and from 2003 onwards I never played in church or anywhere else, but I was always connected to music as a listener, and recently I dedicated myself to returning to church and I'm rebuilding the old band. We're going to start rehearsing and playing again. With that, I'm back to wanting to set up a home studio to house my audio equipment and instruments that I've started collecting again. And now I'm getting to the part where I'm at.

I want to set up a home studio with about 20 square meters that I have available to build a room. In it I'll have an electronic drum kit, a collection of electronic synths, a guitar amp with a collection of 2 or 3 guitars, a bass or 2, and some microphones for vocals. I want to have a 32-channel analog mixing board with 8 aux inputs, I want to use some 8-channel Alesis ADAT digital tape units, I want to have a 4-channel reel-to-reel recorder, and some racks of effects, compressors, and EQs. I'll use a PC with Reaper, nothing else.

The idea is to use the Delta 1010 to copy 8 channels from the board and send 8 channels to the board. I'll mix what I need on the board and send it back to the PC. If necessary, I'll record to the ADAT on 8 tracks. If I want to play with pure analog audio, I'll use the reel-to-reel recorder... and so on. I replaced a Korg Triton LE 61 keyboard that was turned into a MIDI controller (due to a burned out motherboard) with 3 perfectly functional Alesis ADATs.

But please understand that this is not for commercial use, it is for my own use with my band. Playing with audio, spending my free time.

The studio will be where we will rehearse, record rehearsals and record Multitracks to use with the VS during church performances.

The drums will be recorded with VST, via USB MIDI, so I don't need to mic the drums...

I already have a 16-channel analog mixing board, and I just replaced an Alesis quadrasint plus piano keyboard from my collection with a Yamaha Mg32-14F tabletop that should arrive soon. And the Aroma TDX-15s electronic drums. Will this work?

XT units, which should also arrive soon. I still have 6 old synth keyboards, including a perfect Ensoniq MR76, which will be my home keyboards. I have a Samson Graphite 49 controller. My question: My PC is a Chinese Xeon 8-core with an x99 motherboard and 32 GB DDR4, where there is no PCI connector available, so I will have to use a PCI-e to PCI adapter like the "PCIE PCI-E PCI Express X1 to PCI Riser Card Bus Converter Adapter High Efficiency USB 3.0 Cable for Desktop PC ASM1083 Chip" to be able to connect the Delta 1010LT. Will this work?
lol

I will soon start building the home studio space and I intend to post the progress here.
