Toontrack releases Thordendal Guitars EZmix Pack

Today, Toontrack released the Thordendal Guitars EZmix Pack, a new expansion for EZmix 3 featuring a collection of guitar and bass tones based on Fredrik Thordendal’s personal amp collection.

About the Thordendal Guitars EZmix Pack

At best, only a handful of metal guitar players of the past few decades can be credited with inventing all-new genres, playing styles, vocabulary and techniques. Even fewer can be attributed to pushing the boundaries in such a way that they reshaped the entire landscape of the scene. One who fits in both those categories is undoubtedly Meshuggah’s Fredrik Thordendal. Without his relentless ingenuity and curiosity, modern metal music as we know it would not sound anywhere near like it does today.

In this expansion for EZmix 3, he’s chronicled and captured some of his personal as well as Meshuggah milestone moments in terms of tone. Prepare for an odyssey that’ll take you from the rock-tinged fuzz of the early 1970s, through the thrash-dominated 1980s and leading up to the new millennium of transformatively heavy seven- and eight-string chugs that laid the groundwork for the monumental Meshuggah sound. In addition to a wealth of rhythm tones as well as a few renditions of Fredrik’s signature manic lead sounds, this pack also covers several bass tones designed to work in any facet of hard rock and metal, giving you the perfect production package for any metal songwriter.

All tones were based on parts of Fredrik’s personal collection of amps and captured in his own studio 33 together with engineer Daniel Bergstrand. Created using neural network and dynamic IR technology, these tones will give you snapshot prints encompassing the entire in-studio signal chain – from the amp and the cabinet to the mics and the very studio room itself. With every preset having its own set of custom controls, you’ll be able to tweak the underlying parameters of the tones so that they perfectly suit your needs.

With this EZmix pack for EZmix 3, you’ll be virtually sitting in Fredrik’s chair, at his console, overlooking his massive collection of amps on the other side of the studio glass – all dialed in and ready to go at the push of a button.
