Wire Grind releases TapSkip, a Rhythm-Augmenting VST Effect
dimanche 23 février 2025, 21:58 , par Gearslutz
![]() Wire Grind has announced the release of TapSkip, a plug-in effect that makes rhythms denser and more complex. Speaking musically, it multiplies rhythm. It does this by imprinting its own tempo-synced rhythmic pattern on top of the input tracks's rhythm. It's similar to rhythmic delay, but it goes a step further by using a structured pattern of beats in place of repetitious echos. By lacking repetitiousness, TapSkip fully abandons any attempt to be a reverb-like echo effect. Instead, it has a single dedicated purpose: to create and augment musical rhythms. Parameters including predelay and delay may already be familiar to some users. TapSkip, however, is unique, and it has a number of controls and concepts that are important to understand when using it. Taps and Skips TapSkip takes its name from its parameters, "Taps," and "Skips." Theses parameters set the number of delay taps and the number of skips, respectively. A skip is a delay that's skipped over. It can be thought of as a silent delay tap. The taps and skips are arranged in a sequence, and together they form the timing pattern. Shuffling TapSkip has two buttons, "Shuffle Timings," and "Shuffle Levels." The "Shuffle Timings" button generates new patterns by rearranging the taps and skips. The "Shuffle Levels" buttons does the same thing, but it affects the 'feedback' levels rather than the timings. It has a fairly big impact on the overall sonic texture. Features Summary:Rhythm augmentation Time-Pattern shuffling Tap-level shuffling Predelay Non-tempo-synced mode toggle Undo / redo A / B settings toggle A free time-unlimited demo version is available. The demo cannot save presets, and it will periodically add a sine-sweep to the output. TapSkip is currently available as a Windows VST3 plug-in.
