USED TLM 103 SMOKED OUT

I just bought a used TLM 103 and it sounds warm but little to no high end which is the signature tlm sound. it smells like smoke most likely cigarettes all over even in the box. i wiped the thread of the tlm 103 and there was alot of black gunk on the thread. but the mic looks good.what do i do. or am i just going crazy?
