from the site: "Fauve begins by listening to the incoming audio and analyzing its amplitude. Each time a zero crossing occurs, it slices the sound into a unit and stores it. These units are grouped into “collections”, whose size is defined by the Length parameter. Since Fauve is driven by the material itself, collections can vary in duration even with the same Length value — zero crossings occur at different intervals depending on the source. To set a minimum duration for collections, use the Floor buttons (0, 25, 50, 100ms): a collection will only close once both the unit count and the minimum time are met. The Stuck parameter further shapes the memory: it sets the chance that some units are not recorded at all — blending past and present in unpredictable ways. Fragments of the past may persist into the present, echoing through time like lingering memories. The playback manipulation happens in the central panel: Disorder introduces the chance for Fauve to pick collections in a non-linear order. Repeat and Freeze let Fauve loop the same collection multiple times. Absence acts as an amplitude modulator: turn it left to assign a random amplitude to each collection — for organic, dynamic variations; turn it right to drop parts of the signal to zero — introducing malfunctions or, with short Length values, a kind of raw distortion. The Rate parameter lets you detune or harmonize the playback, while enabling the Envelope switch applies a windowing shape to each collection — for smoother transitions or subtle, vibrating textures at higher rates. A core block of Fauve’s language, the Mirage section. Here, you set the chance, triggered at each new collection, for Fauve to play either the source or its own processed vision. Smoo lets you shape the transition, from instant switches to smoother, more blended crossfades. Lean lets you shift the balance between left and right channels, while a switch allows for mono-syncing. You can independently control the amplitude of both Source and Process paths via the Monitor section. Two white LEDs indicate when the dream is active on each channel. Finally, the Sustain switch (bottom-right of the interface) allows Fauve to keep singing, even when no new input is detected."
