Toontrack has updated updates EZkeys to v2.1.2 and released the Felt Piano EKX, a new expansion for EZkeys 2 featuring a carefully captured felt-damped upright piano, ideal for anything from mellow singer-songwriter and folk to acoustic pop and rock. Felt Piano EKX This expansion for EZkeys 2 features a carefully captured felt-damped upright piano, ideal for anything from mellow singer-songwriter and folk to acoustic pop and rock. If you're looking for the ultimate instrument for earthy, round and warm tones, this is it. The piano in this EKX was recorded using a classic technique where an extra layer of felt is applied directly to the strings that the hammers strike, giving the tone of the instrument a much quieter attack and an overall more warm and intimate resonance. To add, the room in which it was captured is moderately small, adding to its almost visceral timbre. To capture every tonal aspect possible, one mono as well as three different stereo pairs of carefully selected microphones were used in the recording. These microphone options were then all utilized in the broad collection of presets, showcasing anything from the subtle, nuanced and delicate to the more full-bodied and rich – still all with that gentle and almost velvety attack. In addition to the sounds, a basic MIDI library tailored specifically for the instrument is included, giving you a starting point of piano grooves to work from and be inspired by when exploring the sonic possibilities of the product. Feature Spotlight: Features a carefully sampled upright piano. Recorded using an extra layer of felt damping applied to the piano strings. Ideal for anything from mellow singer-songwriter and folk to acoustic pop and rock. A wealth of presets incorporating different mic setups and effects. Includes a basic MIDI library unique to the product. Price: €89 at toontrack.com/product/felt-piano-ekx EZkeys v2.1.2 Changes General: '50%' has been added to the available GUI scales. When String Machine EKX is loaded, all velocity controls are replaced with expression controls (just like in Session Organ). Song Track: In the Time Signature editor, the time signature blocks now have right-click menus. The tempo button is now disabled when Follow Host is active. In the chord wheel, the plus and minus buttons for Inversion are now enabled even if Automatic mode is on. Clicking them switches to Manual mode. Having multiple chords selected, changing the Inversion now changes it by the same relative number of steps for each chord. In the chord wheel, b9#9 chords can now be entered with text. Keys Tab: An Instrument panel is now available in all libraries (that did not already have one), showing the Sustain, Sostenuto and Soft pedals. Grooves Tab: Filter selection logic has been updated. Mainly, clicking an already selected filter will now deselect it if it is the only selected filter in the column, but if there are multiple, the clicked filter will become the only selected filter. Grid Editor: The Auto function of Swing Resolution has been improved to analyze the overall resolution of the selection instead of always using the smallest resolution found. Bandmate: Cmd-Alt on Mac and Alt on Windows can now be used to temporarily use the other editing tool. A new 'standard groove' is now added to the search results (at the top) in some cases. Accessibility: In the Grooves tab, the filter columns and the result rows are now accessible. Installation: On Mac, deleting a plug-in or the standalone from disk and running the software installer will no longer deselect it by default on the Customize page. To stop installing a certain plug-in format, you will now need to run the uninstaller first, then deselect the format in the installer.
