Scaler Music updates Scaler to version 3.1
mardi 24 juin 2025, 12:42 , par KVR Audio
Scaler Music has announced the release of Scaler 3.1, an update to the developer's music theory workstation plugin first launched in March. This version adds Live Synchronization between multiple instances, better ways of working with MIDI and chords, a Chord Panel Display to read out input chords and notes, and more improvements for working with a DAW. New Features Live Sync MIDI routing from a single instance is the ideal way to work with Scaler, but not every DAW supports multiple MIDI Channels. With Live Sync, multiple Scaler instances can communicate when on different tracks of a DAW project, sharing their Main Track chords. Ableton Live users will especially benefit from being able to make a change in one Scaler instance and have the Main Track chords of other instances follow suit automatically. Live Sync can also take place between DAWs, and between plugin and standalone instances of Scaler. Bass Follow Track A new Motion, Bass Follow, will automatically track the lowest note of each chord as your project plays. You can use MIDI modifiers to change the Length and Octave of these notes. Using the Inversion MIDI modifier, you can choose a different note to follow, meaning that you can set up a divisi (per voice) rooting using multiple instances of Scaler with Bass Follow active. Snap to Any Position When working on longer DAW projects, such as in composition and film projects, Scaler's timeline may be required to synchronise with a long DAW project timeline. Chords can be dropped onto Scaler's Main Track timeline at any point, and Scaler's timeline keeps up with your DAW's play position, helping Scaler to be used better in the context of professional soundtracks and longer film projects. Drag & Drop Detect Scaler's detection can now be started by dragging and dropping a MIDI and audio file, in addition to playing them through the input. Just open the detection dialog, drag a file into Scaler, and your Chord Set will be populated after detection is performed. Working Better with Main Track Chords As well as the introduction of synchronization between multiple instances of Scaler, the chords in the Main Track lane now have better ways of working. Moving chords in or into the Main Track will give you an indication of where they will be added. Resizing chords now works more intuitively – lengthen or shorten one chord and its immediate neighbour will respond by getting smaller or bigger. See the video above for more. Other Improvements Since Launch Scaler 3.1 supports custom folder paths for hosting VST plugins, and supports ASIO drivers for Windows users. User folders for chord sets can be created, renamed and deleted, and chord sets can be imported. The MIDI note editor has better support for moving and creating 16th notes. Try out the new Select All option in the 'three dots' menu to select all the chords at once. Scaler now has Pinch Zoom for better MIDI navigation, and Drag & Drop Detection for audio and MIDI files. There are other new introductions, including fixes and general quality-of-life improvements, throughout Scaler 3.1. {PRODUCT-HEADER-30578-scaler3}. Pricing and Availability Scaler 3.1 is available as a free update to Scaler 3 owners, and upgrade pricing is available at $29 for owners of any previous version. Current Scaler owners can download or upgrade wherever they purchased their current version.
