Deep Sound Lab Releases 808Screamer Flat (with a free version)
mardi 1 juillet 2025, 16:17 , par Gearslutz
![]() It took us way longer than expected to finish up the paid GUI and squash all the bugs—but it’s finally ready! Hopefully the wait wasn’t too bad. This release features the flat GUI, which leans toward a clean and minimal design. If you're a fan of skeuomorphic interfaces like the ones often found in analog-modeled plugins, hang tight—we're planning to release that version later this month. Here’s a quick intro to what’s new. If you’d like to dig deeper, feel free to check out our Patreon page for more info. And hey, if you’re into what we’re doing, we’d love it if you gave us a follow there. Don’t worry—no spammy ads, just real updates when it actually matters. If you’re not familiar with 808Screamer yet 808Screamer is our very first plugin release, delivering truly top-tier tone with some rare standout features: Key Tech Highlights 1. Selective Precision: Focuses on crucial frequency bands and levels to optimize both sound quality and CPU efficiency. 2. Even-Order Harmonics: Unique implementation of even harmonics that balances tone richness with performance. 3. Nonlinear Level & Tone Knobs: Faithfully recreates hardware quirks for a more authentic feel. 4. Better Oversampling: Ensures consistent tone regardless of the oversampling setting. 5. Clear Input Gain Guidelines: Provides a reference to help users dial in a sound that’s close to the original hardware. Additional features for paid GUIs The paid GUI doesn’t just come with a more polished interface—it also unlocks a few extra features. What you see below is just the beginning; we’ve got plenty more in the works. All upcoming features will be listed right here as they’re added. Version Selection The free GUI will always reflect the latest version. The paid GUI, however, gives you access to previous versions too. This way, you can try out our latest updates and tones while still staying fully compatible with older projects. Force Mono Input This option forces the incoming signal to mono, which can improve performance in some DAWs when you're working with mono sources. Continuous GUI Scaling With modern displays and operating systems, smooth, continuous GUI scaling is pretty much a must-have. That's why we’ve included this feature in the paid GUI version—it’ll let you adjust the interface to fit different screen sizes and resolutions. For now, though, continuous scaling is only working properly in the VST3 version. For some unknown reason, the AU version isn’t playing nice with it just yet. We’re on it and will get it fixed as soon as we can. In the meantime, we recommend using the VST3 version if you need flexible scaling. Quick Input Gain Calibration (Coming Soon) We’re building a database of input gain measurements for a wide range of audio interfaces. With this feature, you’ll simply select your interface model, and the paid GUI will auto-calibrate the Input Gain to its optimal level. More interface models will be added in future updates. Separate Oversampling for Rendering and Realtime (Coming Soon) Since our plugin maintains consistent tone in the core frequency range across different oversampling settings, it makes sense to let you tweak them separately for mixing and rendering. Choose lower oversampling while working for better performance, and switch to higher settings when bouncing your mix for maximum quality. Attached Thumbnails
