Auto Comp - Auto-Leveling Compressor
mardi 1 juillet 2025, 20:16 , par Gearslutz
![]() What it is: and automatic leveling compressor with one goal - transparent dynamic reduction for "top of mix" elements like vocals, dialogue, and lead lines. I have LOTS of compressor plugins. But they all have the same problems: 1. Audio that falls below the threshold is not compressed (at all or as much) 2. Makeup gain needs to be applied, and is static 3. I don't always have time or want to adjust six controls to dial it in Auto Comp was my answer to these. It not only has transparent RMS compression, but also lifts audio that falls below the threshold, bringing things like ghost notes, whispers, and other details up automatically. It also features automatic makeup gain, a transparent, almost unclippable safety limiter, an output trim adjustment, and super simple user interface. If you have a dynamic vocal, dialogue recording, or lead instrument that needs to have a consistent output level without sounding squashed, Auto Comp can get you there quickly. Controls and what they do: lift is a toggle that enables upward compression on audio that falls below the threshold. The amount of lift is controlled by the "comp" knob. comp controls the Threshold, Ratio, Automatic Makeup Gain amount, and Lift amount. Higher percentage = more compression, and more volume at the highest settings. trim controls the output level of the plugin (before the limiter stage, if enabled). limit toggles the proprietary multi-stage safety limiter that keeps you from clipping the ouput, no matter how much gain you add with the other controls I've been using Auto Comp on some music projects, but it really shines on spoken word (movie dialogue, podcasts, YouTube videos). I've even used it on my livestreams to help keep levels in the pocket: https://www.youtube.com/live/S6nnOYD...E8L49xm78ED0Oh The plugin is tested on Windows 10/11, macOS and has AAX, AU, VST, and VST3 versions available. The license is a single-user lifetime license for as many computers as you own. Check it out here.
