Universal Audio Announces LUNA v1.9
jeudi 17 juillet 2025, 17:33 , par KVR Audio
Universal Audio has announced the release of LUNA v1.9, a significant software update to its free Digital Audio Workstation. The new version introduces a preview of powerful new AI-powered features designed to streamline the recording process and help musicians stay focused on their performance. The main idea behind this update seems to be reducing the technical friction that can interrupt a creative session. Universal Audio is leaning into AI to handle some of the more tedious setup and organizational tasks, letting the software act more like a helpful studio assistant. We believe that the best audio tools can 'disappear, ' and feel like they are simply a part of the creative process. We think the new AI-powered tools in LUNA 1.9 start to make it feel like a behind-the-scenes music recording partner, not just a DAW. Ultimately, we always look forward to hearing what our users think. UA CEO Bill Putnam Jr. What's New in LUNA v1.9 The update focuses on several 'smart' tools that work in the background: Voice Control: For the solo artist, this is a big one. You can now use simple 'Hey Luna' voice commands to start and stop recordings from anywhere in your studio. No more running back to the desk between takes. Instrument Detection: LUNA will now analyze incoming audio, identify what kind of instrument is being recorded (guitar, bass, vocals, etc.), and then automatically name and color-code the track. This should help keep sessions organized from the start. Tempo Listen: Instead of programming a click track first, you can now just play. LUNA listens to your performance and sets the session tempo to match your natural groove, making that first take feel much more organic. Tempo Detection: Drag an audio loop into the timeline, and LUNA will automatically detect its tempo, syncing it with your project. Tempo Extraction: This feature allows LUNA to create a dynamic tempo map from an existing audio track or stem, preserving all the natural timing variations and tempo changes. This is incredibly useful for remixing or adding new parts to a live recording while keeping the original feel. First released in 2020, LUNA distinguished itself by integrating authentic analog channel strips, summing, and tape extensions from brands like Neve, API, and Studer, especially when paired with Apollo audio interfaces. Now in its fifth year, LUNA continues its evolution with features aimed at making the technical side of recording more intuitive. Price and Availability LUNA v1.9 is a free update for all existing LUNA users and is available for download now. For users wanting the full analog emulation experience, the LUNA Pro Bundle remains available, offering extensions from Neve, API, Ampex, Studer, and more. Read More
