Cedar announces Auto Dehiss and Debuzz Plug-ins

![]() Auto Dehiss Dehissers are prone to generating artefacts known as twittering and glugging, the underwater effect or even space monkeys. It’s sometimes possible to minimise these by manipulating noise fingerprints and parameter values but, even then, the amount of noise that you can remove before damaging the wanted signal is limited. In contrast, Auto Dehiss removes noise in real time without unwanted side-effects. (It also retains a manual mode that allows you to fine-tune the process should you wish to.) Use it to remove tape hiss and other broadband noise when mixing and mastering, in post, and when preparing user copies in libraries and archives. Described by reviewers as “uncanny in the way it avoids any dulling of the wanted source sound” it makes it simple to obtain excellent results with the minimum of fuss. Debuzz Debuzz removes all manner of buzzes and hums with fundamentals as high as 500Hz, and can eliminate unwanted harmonics across the entire audio spectrum. It will track wandering tones so that the problems don’t reappear if the fundamental frequency drifts and, unlike traditional filters, can restore the audio without unwanted artefacts and side-effects such as limited bandwidth or the hollow sound introduced by comb filters. Use it in real time when mixing and in post to remove problems such as mains hum, guitar buzz, and lighting buzzes. When testing it, one reviewer wrote, “the resultant sound of Debuzz eclipses anything else I’ve tried, and I’ve tried almost everything else out there. Users looking for the best tools to tackle bad sound need look no further”. When will CEDAR icons Auto Dehiss and Debuzz be available? Both processes are available immediately and we'll be showing them for the first time anywhere in the world at the IBC Convention in Amsterdam on 12 September. Please come to stand 8F.81 in Hall 8 to try them. Can I buy them now? Absolutely! Just visit our on-line shop and you'll find them already there: https://cedaraudio.onfastspring.com What’s happening to the CEDAR Studio versions? These are now discontinued although they will, of course, continue to work on existing systems. How much will it cost to upgrade? Nothing. Not a penny. What’s more, if users have licences for the CEDAR Studio versions of either process, they can simply delete the old software and install the new. Existing iLok licences will work without additional authorisation, and they’ll be up and running again within minutes. Are there trial versions? Yes. Users can download 14-day free trials from our on-line shop at https://cedaraudio.onfastspring.com and the shops of selected dealers. These trials are totally unencumbered; there are no periodic noises, no timeouts, nor anything else to stop people testing and using them. What formats are supported and how are they authorised? Auto Dehiss and Debuzz run as AAX, AU and VST3 plug-ins on Mac and PC. They are authorised using an iLok dongle or iLok Cloud. How much do they cost? Auto Dehiss retails for £99 +vat in the UK, and Debuzz retails for £199 +vat in the UK. Customers can also contact their local CEDAR dealers if they would like to purchase through our dealer network: https://cedaraudio.com/dealers Want to know more?
