Introducing SolderMate Pro – soldering jigs for XLR and TRS cables.

![]() I wanted to share a project that started in my studio and has now grown into a couple of proper tools I’ve been refining over the past few months, the CableMate Pro and the CableMate Mini. Both are simple but solid soldering jigs designed to make building and repairing cables a lot easier, especially for those of us regularly working with XLR and TRS connectors. CableMate Pro The Pro version is a bench-top jig with multiple connector types built in (XLR male & female and TRS.). It securely holds connectors in place while you solder, so you don’t have to juggle cables, tools, and clearly labels pinouts all at once. It’s made from laser-cut hardwood with precision-fit holes and a low-profile design that stays stable on your bench. I originally built it to speed up cable making in my recording studio, but other engineers started asking for them, so I decided to produce a small run. Cable Mate Mini The Mini is a compact version — it fits easily in a gig bag or small bench setup. It has one male and one female XLR slot plus a TRS jack and is perfect for smaller jobs or mobile techs who don’t need the full layout. Why I made these Anyone who’s ever made a batch of XLRs knows how fiddly it can get, cables rolling off the table, connectors slipping, or losing track of pinouts halfway through a batch. These jigs act like an extra pair of hands, keeping everything steady and repeatable. More info Both models are now available at: www.cablematepro.com I’d love to hear your thoughts or feedback, especially from other engineers and techs who do a lot of soldering. Thanks for checking it out! Lewis Wundenberg CableMate Pro
