Sonuscore releases LUX Orchestral Strings - 70-Piece Cinematic String Ensemble for Kontakt

mercredi 22 octobre 2025, 01:19 , par KVR Audio
Sonuscore has announced the release of LUX Orchestral Strings, a new string library for film composers aiming to capture the massive, warm sound of a classic Hollywood-style scoring session. The company recorded a 70-piece symphonic ensemble on a grand scoring stage to deliver an authentic cinematic presence. This new Kontakt-based instrument is designed for professional workflow, blending a large sound with innovative performance features. A Focus on Natural Performance and Stage Realism The library's design hinges on features that attempt to make the virtual performance feel more like playing with a live orchestra. One of the key technologies is Seamless Articulation Transitioning (S.A.T.), which is built to let an articulation flow naturally into another within a single held note—for instance, a sustain evolving smoothly into a tremolo or sforzando. This is a subtle but important detail that can prevent articulation changes from sounding like abrupt, separate samples. Another significant detail is the inclusion of Comprehensive Bleed Microphones. While the 70-player ensemble was captured with 48 microphones, 22 of those were bleed mics positioned across the brass, woodwind, and percussion sections of the orchestra. This means the library captures the authentic acoustic 'spill' from other instrumental groups on the stage, adding a layer of natural resonance and depth to the sound that is often difficult to recreate digitally. This isn't just an effect; it's a piece of the original stage realism, giving the user control over the amount of room interaction. What makes LUX unique... Morphing articulations that can be shaped in real time using the mod wheel, allowing players to blend sounds like sustains into tremolos or transform techniques like sul ponticello into lush textures. Composer-crafted ensembles designed by professional composers for instant cinematic sketching, with flexible voicing options. Natural String Change Legato technology, which aims to reproduce the subtle, realistic resonance from the previous string as a player moves to the next, enhancing the warmth and connection of legato phrases. Every section of the ensemble was recorded in traditional symphonic seating to ensure a natural stereo image and cinematic depth. The recording was overseen by engineer Peter Fuchs (known for his work on Iron Man 3 and Call of Duty), utilizing premium microphones from DPA, Schoeps, Neumann, and Coles. Key Features 70-piece symphonic string ensemble recorded on a large scoring stage. 48 microphones, including four mix positions: Close, Decca, Far, and the exclusive Bleed position.
