SOMA Laboratory Introduces WARP FX Processing Unit
mardi 4 novembre 2025, 17:40 , par Gearslutz
SOMA Laboratory, maker of experimental synthesizers and sound machines, announces WARP: a high-quality, multi-purpose audio processing unit, able to add magic to almost any instrument. WARP is the ultimate FX companion, with its top-class AD/DA conversion and 15 different effects types, all fully controllable by CV. WARP is the perfect, all-in-one creative companion for processing a range of acoustic or electronic instruments, including guitars, vocals, strings, synthesizers and more. It is also suitable for processing drums or entire mixes - in either a live or studio environment. The processing functions of WARP are grouped into three types: Spatial effects In this section, the user can access FX ranging from traditional reverbs to granular, experimental algorithms - with pitch-shifting, reverse and micro-loops. Most of the spatial effects feature extremely long decay times, reaching all the way to infinity. With feedback ratios above 1, it is possible to drive the algorithm into self-oscillation for creating endless, rich, lively soundscapes out of almost any sound. To keep the sound under control with reasonable headroom and tonal aesthetic, all the generative algorithms include dedicated modules to automatically control feedback and sound levels. Special effects Special effects include the flanger, sample rate/bit reduction, and vintage tape simulation. All special effects include unusual functions, giving them a unique SOMA flavor. Dynamic effects and filters These include compressors, distortions, and filters. All the effects in this category can be applied to submixes such as drums or rhythm section, or even to an entire mix – so this can also be considered a 'master effects' section. Each of these effects also have their unique extended features, SOMA-style. State-of-the-art conversion To keep audio processing at the highest possible quality, WARP uses top-class audio chains and 24 bit /48KHz AD/DA audio converters, which prevents sound deterioration - even while processing a complete mix. The unit also features stereo inputs and outputs, compatible with both balanced and non-balanced connections. All of the sound processing is 32-bit digital, including the MIX control. WARP has a simple, intuitive interface, providing instant direct access to all functions — perfect for playing live. Every processing parameter has a dedicated CV input, controllable via Eurorack systems and any CV source. WARP will be shipping early next year for €560.
