Brad Russell is throwing his hat in the ring with a NPR Tiny Desk audition video, and he sent it our way. Brad does it all in this clip, with live looping, lead bass, and vocals. This is his original tune, “The Righteous Kid.”

2024 marks the 15th anniversary of the Kala U-Bass and the company is celebrating with a special model. The Solid Hawaiian Koa Top 15th Anniversary Edition U-Bass is crafted with a hand-selected piece of Koa from Kala’s private stock.
Charles Berthoud recently held a bass clinic at Musicians Institute in Hollywood. As his intro, he performed his song “Elevated” for the attendees.
In our interview with Gov’t Mule’s Kevin Scott last year, he shared he was working an album with his solo project, WAXpaper. Now he’s revealed the project’s self-titled debut will be released in April.

In a twist that nearly no one saw coming, Slayer is reuniting in 2024. The thrash metal pioneers have confirmed two performances for the fall: Chicago’s Riot Fest on September 22nd and Louisville, Kentucky’s Louder Than Life Festival on September 27th.
Wojtek Stanisz has a new solo album out. In this video, he’s joined by the Barrels Cello Quartet on “Flahjo,” a stunningly beautiful track from “Szuflandia.”
Primus is teaming up with Coheed and Cambria for a co-headlining summer tour to see the groups playing 25 shows between June and August. The tour will also have support from Fishbone, Guerilla Toss, and Too Many Zooz.

In the 1980s, Jonas Hellborg had a trio with Ginger Baker and Bernie Worrell. Over 30 years later, Hellborg has released an album by the group, “The Concert of Europe.” We caught up with him to get the scoop in this interview.

The Immediate Family crafted the sound of the ’70s by backing up nearly every important musician of the era in the studio. Now the band has dropped a fresh studio album, “Skin in the Game.”

This week, we’re checking out the Z Bass Guitar EV2 Custom Exotic Woodpecker. The bass is built with a Marupá body marked with Ambrosia Beetle holes, giving an organic and unique look.
Bonga (vocals, dikanza) is joined by 12 musicians from around the world for this performance of “Mona Ki Ngi Xica,” which can be translated as “My Child, I Have to Leave You.” Alana Alberg is the bassist on the recording.
The Aristocrats have returned with their fifth studio album, entitled “Duck.” Each member of the trio contributed three compositions to the effort, which is their first concept album.
